English dubstep producer Rusko embarks on a new Spring 2012 tour this year by announcing a series of dates that will take him across much of the US including 4 dates in Texas alone. Two Nightculture dates announced including Tuesday, May 22 in Houston, TX at Stereo Live and Friday, May 25 in Austin, TX at Austin Music Hall. Tickets will go onsale soon. Both shows will be 18+ only.

Knife Party is an Australian electro house / dubstep duo formed by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen of the live drum & bass group Pendulum. Launches fan club ticketing for upcoming dates

 Excision debuted a brand new trailer recently for the upcoming X Tour set to hit 50 cities this year, which only kicked off a few days ago on January 19. Joining the Canadian dubstep dj on the road will be Liquid Stranger, another dubstep up and comer known for his chill and psydub tracks as well as Lucky Date, a hard hitting electro / dutch house dj from Chicago, IL. Here’s an excerpt from the tour press release to describe what audiences can expect:

INDUSTRY NEWS: In a surprise press release sent yesterday, Paradigm Agency announces merger with dance music agency AM Only. With dance music’s popularity already on the upswing, this merger sends a signal that shows the industry is on the way to becoming a regular mainstay with audiences. In Europe and Asia, dance music has established itself as one of the major genres that enjoy a healthy relationship with fans for the past decade. From an outside perspective, one can see it starting to take permanent root on American shores.

Paradigm Agency’s music division represents an impressive roster of artists such as Coldplay, Death from Above 1979, and La Roux. In addition, they maintain representation in the areas of motion pictures, literary publication, comedy and theatre. AM Only brings to the fold artists such as David Guetta, Skrillex, Tiesto and Martin Solveig to name a few.

This deal will allow AM Only artists to tap into the expanded resources particularly as it relates to advertising, endorsements and publishing etc. Already we’re seeing evidence of this bleeding through in the form of the new trailer for the movie ‘Red Tails’ by Lucasfilm featuring the song ‘Unison’ by Porter Robinson (Knife Party remix) (watch it here). This move however is not unique considering one of the first agencies to successfully integrate EDM acts as part of its regular roster was William Morris after Vital Agency (formerly Chaotica) closed up shop to pursue other avenues in the entertainment industry. The question now remains in seeing how long will agencies like ICM and CAA follow even though it was rumored that they were in the running for merger talks (source: www.pollstaronline.com – registration required).

Being part of a company heavily involved with dance music since the early 90′s and witnessing its rapid decline firsthand in the earlier part of the last decade, its exciting to see the wider acceptance embraced by the general public. From illegal warehouse parties to selling out Madison Square Garden with Swedish House Mafia last month, the dance music genre continues to grow as it evolves to become a mature, respected subset of music.

  DJ BL3ND:

  DJ BL3ND didn’t start out with hopes of being an online star.

  “When I was 15 I started DJing at school, and then I bought my own equipment and started DJing mobile parties, weddings, little kids parties,” he says. “I enjoyed it, but I wanted to play music that I liked, so I looked for club that would let them show them my skills. My goal was to be a club resident, but no one ever gave me a chance—they denied me, told me they already had a DJ.” That’s when DJ BL3ND started streaming DJ sets online.

  “I’d get one to four viewers per day. It was kind of sad, but I was happy for my four viewers,” he says. I started watching YouTube videos to improve my skills, but I noticed they would focus just on the turntables and hands, and the videos weren’t that entertaining. So I found this mask—I wanted to be as crazy as I wanted without people knowing my identity.”

  His breakthrough video, the DJ Bl3nd Club Mix 2010, has now earned more than 22 million plays. He still focuses on mixing other people’s music—his favorite artists are Afrojack, DJ Chucky, the Swedish House Mafia and the Bloody Beetroots – but will release an original electro-house track later this year. He’s also planning a world tour—but the mask will stay on.

  “BL3ND is a mystery to a lot of people,” he says. “No one knows my voice, my age—all anyone knows is the character.”

  DESIGNER DRUGS:

  Ask the DJ/production duo DESIGNER DRUGS how many air miles they’ve logged over the past year and the answer requires more than a bit of calculating. “Over 300,000,” Michael Vincent Patrick referencing numerous spots around the world where the group has performed. “I have a really nice apartment in New York City, but I’ve only been there three days this month.”

ABOUT: Hailing from Nantes in France, 17 year old Madeon came to the attention of the world for his unique blend of Pop/House/Electro via his ”Shuriken” and “For You” tracks as well as his amazing remix of Pendulum’s “The Island” single which won a remix competition set up by Warner Records and picked as the winning remix by Rob Swire (vocalist from the band)

Madeon has also recently remixed Yelle who are signed to Universal France and has also just remixed the Deadmau5 “Raise Your Weapon” single for EMI.  He will also be releasing his debut EP in the summer.

ABOUT: Sebastian Ingrosso is that rare thing in the world of dance music: a musician who understands the world of melodies just as much as he understands the power of the kick drum.

Sebastian’s father owned two record labels, and from the tender age of 14 Ingrosso could be found in the studio producing music. His first official remix was released on Mega Records in 1999 and for over a decade Ingrosso has been releasing a steady stream of original tracks and remixes. In 2009, Sebastian, Dirty South and David Guetta produced ‘How Soon Is Now’ with Julia McKnight, which has become a modern day vocal house classic. Other tracks include ‘Leave The World behind’ on Axtone, ‘Umbrella’ on Data, ‘Laktos’ on Refune, an amazing re-edit of ‘Swimming Places’ from Julian Jabre on Defected, Royksopp and Hard Fi’s ‘Suburban Knights’, the searing remix of ‘Jack You’ with Steve Angello for Diddy and Felix which was approved by Sean Combs himself, MGMT’s ‘Kids’ and most recently Miike Snow’s ‘Silvia’. 2010 saw him co-write and co-produce ‘Cupid Boy’, one of the key electronic anthems on Kylie’s new Number 1 album.

As head of A & R for his label, Refune, Sebastian is constantly discovering and developing new talents such as Style of Eye, AN21, Max Vangeli, True Identity and his most recent signing, the exceptional Lune.

Sebastian Ingrosso’s achievements as a DJ are no less impressive than of those in the area of production. From his first gig in a small pizza restaurant in small town Sweden, 2009’s residency at world famous Sensation White saw him regularly performing to crowds of 25,000 all over the globe and 2010 has seen more smash gigs in Australia, USA and Brazil, not to mention countless countries throughout Europe. DJ Mag’s 2010 Top 100 poll placed Seb at Number 16, having already won highest new entry in the 2009 poll.

After the amazing achievements of the past few years, some may be forgiven for thinking the future could not get any better for Ingrosso but his ambition, not to mention talent, show no signs of abating. He has recently launched his new live visual concept and rumours are rife that he is producing the new album of a hot young female artist.
